Vipersat - Total Control for SNG
With today's demands on time and financial resources, the modern News Network requires the maximum performance from each part of the system to collate, process and deliver the content that we call news.
With technology moving fast and broadcasters inching towards MPEG-4, DVB-S2 and IP Networks, providing the link between the traditional and the new and maximizing performance and capability is where Sematron is supporting many customers.

Working with Sat-Comm Ltd, a major systems integrator in the UK, Sematron have provided a managed IP network allowing the connectivity, control, monitoring and management of 20 SNG (Satellite News Gathering) Trucks. Using the Vipersat system from Comtech EF Data Sematron has been able to amalgamate the best characteristics of both TDMA and SCPC to allow the European News Network operator to minimize space segment requirements whilst ensuring there is dedicated bandwidth for critical live feeds.
The Vipersat network solution combines the advanced CDM570L modem with a powerful network management tool, the Vipersat Management System (VMS). The VMS allows CDM-570 modems to share bandwidth, and when needed switch automatically to a dedicated SCPC channel. |
 |
This enables the network to more efficiently handle connection oriented applications and reduce network congestion. The VMS also allows for dynamic point to point connections to be established between remotes.
"The Vipersat solution is an economical and flexible network solution with bandwidth shared and directed where it is needed for a mix of IP voice, video and data traffic", Nick Cahill, Sematron |
