EXFO's FTB-5240B is a high-resolution, high-precision optical spectrum analyzer (OSA) designed for ultra-dense WDM applications. Its built-in reference source not only provides better wavelength accuracy, but also makes OSA calibration more resistant to shock. Easily characterize DWDM signals, EDFAs, DFBs and spectral transmittance thanks to automated tests in the 1250 to 1650 nm range. Housed in the FTB-400 Universal Test System, the FTB-5240B offers the impressive optical performance of a lab-quality instrument in a field-ready, multitasking portable unit. This product is 40 Gbit/s ready.
Multitasking
The FTB-400 platform offers rapid, powerful multitasking with simultaneous acquisitions and post-processing. Combine the 3-slot FTB-5240B OSA and the 3-slot FTB-5320 Multi-Wavelength Meter in the FTB-400 UTS to certify signal quality by characterizing the entire DWDM network. Take advantage of the OSA's high OSNR, power accuracy and dynamic range combined with the multi-wavelength meter's high wavelength accuracy, in one single instrument.
One-Button Testing
Simplify testing and stay on schedule with one-button testing and the FTB-5240B's integrated software. If your deadline is tomorrow, the last thing you need is software that will slow you down. Turn on the unit and the last settings are ready for DWDM system characterization. Press Start. Within seconds, you receive your data.
EXFO's optical spectrum analyzer software suits all experience levels, from first-time users to DWDM experts. An experienced user can adjust default settings and override the Auto mode to fine-tune an acquisition or concentrate on a specific parameter.

DWDM System Analysis
Analyze systems with up to 512 channels in DWDM testing mode. View trace ID information, including all parameters in the active measurement, in the report window. Use tabs to gain quick access to functions and test results: the Results tab, for fast reporting and a complete table of results; the Measurements tab, to isolate trace details using a set of markers and zoom functions; and the Alarm tab, to track system behaviour through a table of threshold alarm details.
Adjustable Scanning Range
Thanks to an adjustable wavelength scanning range, the FTB-5240B OSA lets you focus on a specific band. The result? Improved acquisition time and resolution. EXFO's OSA covers all telco bands and all potential optical supervisory channels (OSCs). |
