LeCroy Corporation launches a new line of WaveSurfer Xs digital oscilloscopes to extend its already popular large display with small footprint form factor oscilloscopes. Because so much of the value of an oscilloscope is in what the user can see, the new WaveSurfer Xs Series contains the new WaveStream™ Fast Viewing Mode. When used with the bright 10.4" SVGA display the WaveSurfer Xs Series provides the best display of troublesome glitches in its class. The oscilloscope display is 250% larger than other oscilloscopes yet it is only 6" (15 cm) deep, giving it a small footprint. The WaveSurfer Xs also provides long record capture (standard unit has more than 100x the capture time than other oscilloscopes in this class) and unparalleled documentation and connectivity capability.
This new class of oscilloscopes offers both two and four channel instruments with bandwidths of 400 MHz and 600 MHz. All four models offer a 2.5 GS/s maximum sample rate with a long 800 µs capture time at full sample rate (2 Mpts/Ch). LeCroy provides additional industry leading features in this class of oscilloscopes by adding a 10/100Base-T network port, three USB 2.0 ports, one 500 MHz passive probe per channel, and five year warranty—all as standard provisions. Altogether, the WaveSurfer Xs products represent a huge step forward— they are designed and integrated for the way engineers and technicians really work. The Xs Series excels in signal capture, viewing, and documentation in the 400 MHz to 600 MHz bandwidth class, with very competitive pricing.
The footprint of the WaveSurfer Xs is the same size as other oscilloscopes in this class, yet the display area of a WaveSurfer Xs is 2.5 times larger. The result is far superior signal viewing capability that lets the user see signal details in ways that were never possible with small screen oscilloscopes. In addition to the small footprint, LeCroy also offers a desktop stand that clamps to a desktop and conveniently positions the WaveSurfer Xs off of the worksurface. WaveSurfer Xs also includes connectivity and documentation features that oscilloscope users want, but that have not been previously available in this class of instrument. These features allow users to document their work quickly and easily by connecting directly to the office network and enabling emailing of files from the oscilloscope; or saving files directly to a network drive, USB memory stick, or other USB device. For engineers who want more than the standard oscilloscope capability, LeCroy also offers an advanced math package (including additional math functions, chaining of math functions, and parameter math), an advanced triggering package (including six additional SMART triggers), and an application-specific package for mask testing of electrical telecom signals.
