Symmetricom, Inc., a worldwide leader in precise time and frequency products and services, today unveiled a brand new Cs4000 Cesium Frequency Standard equipped with a colour front panel Graphical User Interface (GUI) and many new features. The Cs4000 is ideally suited for the stringent requirements of a wide array of applications, including test & measurement, military communications, satellite ground stations, military test ranges, television broadcast and many others needing a primary frequency reference. The Cs4000 II was demonstrated at SATELLITE 2006 Conference & Exhibition, February 7 - 9, 2006 at the Washington Convention Centre, in Washington, DC.
"The front panel graphical user interface and Ethernet connectivity allow for monitor and control functionality that is unrivalled in the industry," commented Doug Lowrie, product marketing manager for Symmetricom. "The ability to have continual access to mission critical instrumentation is a major issue for our customers; the Ethernet interface on the Cs4000 will provide continual access to vital cesium operating parameters."
The Cs4000 is a 3U rack mount master clock that provides stable and accurate Radio Frequency (RF) signals that are derived from an atomic resonance in the cesium atom. This resonance in the cesium atom serves as the international definition of the duration of the second. When the Cs4000's time is synchronised to a National Measurement Institute (such as the U.S. National Institute of Standards and Technology), it acts as a highly accurate master clock that provides signals in timing systems.
The Cs4000 provides multiple standard outputs, optional outputs that can be user configured and an internal options area for custom specials. The front panel display and Ethernet interface provide a customer interface and ease of use capability unique for this style of instrument. It is the only cesium available with Ethernet connectivity for remote monitoring and easy to use menu driven front panel interface. The high performance CS4000 with its long-term stability can be used in time keeping applications at an optimal price point.
Advanced Cesium III digital technology is at the core of the Cs4000 and is a direct result of Symmetricom's ongoing research and development efforts which have led to performance improvements in long term stability and accuracy. The accuracy and stability achievable with this technology is commensurate with any cesium standard available in the world today.
