Scopus Video Networks, a provider of digital video networking products, announced today the commercial availability of its complete DVB-S2 solution for the contribution and distribution of digital video broadcast content. Scopus' solution for satellite digital broadcasting players consists of the UE-9217/9218 Universal Encoder for mobile and fixed transmission applications and the IRD-2900 Integrated Receiver Decoder for reception sites.
Scopus' DVB-S2 solution provides an easy migration path for today's and tomorrow's video compression needs by bridging MPEG-2 and MPEG-4 technologies. It enables the deployment of equipment capable of simultaneous efficient DVB-S2 satellite transmission and IP-based networks for link redundency and secure transmission. In addition, the solution enhances bandwidth savings, optimizes operational expenses, decreases transmission power and reduces antenna size to produce significant benefits for broadcasters and network operators.
The all-in-one UE-9217/9218 Encoder platform is Scopus' newest DSNG multi-channel encoding platform featuring simultaneous MPEG-2, MPEG-4 SD encoding with built-in DVB-S2 modulation and up-conversion. With concurrent L-Band, ASI and IP outputs, the UE-9217/9218 offers an appealing solution for broadcasters and network operators requiring a reliable and cost-effective answer for their fixed and mobile demands.
Scopus' IRD-2900 professional MPEG-2 DVB-S2 processing platform is designed to meet professional profile requirements while maximizing ease of use and flexibility. Concurrently decoding up to two video programs and up to four audio channels from the transport stream, the platform is a superior solution for operators requiring professional decoding, descrambling and re-transmission capabilities. With a graphical front-panel display, the IRD-2900 includes up to two QPSK L-Band inputs, a variety of Telco front-end options, dual MPEG over IP input, MPEG over IP output and ASI transport-stream input and output. Its versatility serves the growing needs of the video over IP marketplace making it perfect for operators moving to all-digital networks.
