The LMT-1200 is designed to get on location and on air in the shortest possible time by personnel who may not be technically trained in the field of Satellite communications.
The 1.2-metre carbon fibre antenna comprises four sections for compact packaging. The whole system stows into five airline-checkable flight cases (each weighing under 32kg) so avoiding the time and expense of freighting. Once on site, assembly and set up are fast (no tools required) so the link can quickly be brought into operation. The system includes a dedicated compact test and measurement package for handling baseband video and audio as well as satellite acquisition and tracking. This provides real-time control for the motorised antenna as well as monitoring, so optimal set up is quickly achieved - even with one-man operation. While the antenna and transmitter assembly must be exposed to the elements, typically on a roof, the test and control package can be located remotely indoors.
Customers who currently deploy the LMT-1200 include the REUTERS News agency and Globesat, a satellite news gatherer based in Cyprus . |
