Inner DC blocks have a capacitor in-series with the centre conductor which prevents the flow of audio and direct current (DC) frequencies while offering minimum interference to RF signals up to 50 GHz. Similarly, outer DC blocks have a capacitor in-series with the outer conductor and the inner/outer types have capacitors with both inner and outer conductors.
Applications include system signal-to-noise ratio improvement, test setup isolation and other situations where undesired DC or audio current flows in the system
Bias tees allow the insertion of DC voltages into a signal path without disrupting the existing signal in that path. They are used to supply an active device, for example an amplifier, with bias current or bias voltage while allowing high speed, RF signals to pass through with minimum signal degradation.
