Ericsson’s SPR1100 high-density broadcast stream processor is positioned for video turnaround applications requiring video and audio transcoding or bit-rate changing.

It supports any-to-any MPEG-2/MPEG-4 AVC/HD/SD transcoding for up to 24 HD or 72 SD video services within a compact, single 1RU.  It allows operators to launch linear TV services to an ever-expanding number of connected devices and deliver services to multiple Internet connected devices at the same time, including TVs, tablets, and smartphones.

In a fast changing and highly competitive TV market, operators and TV service providers must deliver access to content on all screens, anytime, anywhere, while also reducing complexity and driving efficiency across all platforms.

The SPR1000 family of stream processors tackles these challenges by enabling the dense and cost-effective transcoding of off-air and turnaround channels needed to provide all services on all devices.

  • High availability design - features a hot-standby 1+1 configuration with a fully mirrored spare.
  • Advanced user interface - allows easy configuration without the need for an external control system.
  • Dedicated hardware - both units harness the computing power necessary to generate the hundreds of streaming profiles required to address the fast-increasing number of target devices.
  • Dedicated software - both units leverage dynamic and flexible segmentation, packaging and encryption functions needed for adaptive streaming.
