MENOS-Mobile solutions
Sematron are very proud to be involved in the prestigious MENOS Program. Working with Newtec & ASBU from the start, we became the first company to have our solution accredited.
We helped prove the reliability of the MENOS network by up-linking content from all of the ASBU Technical Conference in 2008 (Tunis), the ASBU General Assembly in both 2009 (Jeddah) and in 2010 (Tunis) without any failures. Further details of this can be found in the MENOS Overview document below.
Member feedback from these events, along with attending both the Cabsat Show in Dubai and the IBC Exhibition in Amsterdam, has now encouraged us to build a MENOS IP-SIT Terminal in to a small portable case and offer a variety of quick deploy systems which are detailed below.

TP-120M-Lite Terminal
The TP-120-Lite system comprises of a 1.2m Ku-Band antenna, an RF chain that will support powers up to 400W and a full Newtec MENOS IP Satellite Interactive Terminal (IP-SIT) built in to a small portable terminal.Pointing of the antenna is easy using the Newtec “Point and Play” audio assist system and there is an option to work Open-DSNG (transmit to a non-MENOS satellite). The MENOS terminal can stream native IP (data or voice) as well as low bit rate video using the in-built MPEG4 video encoder as well as offering “store-and-forward” facilities.

TP-120A Terminal
The TP-120A system comprises of a 1.2m Ku-Band antenna, an RF chain that will support powers up to 400W and the baseband equipment & MENOS system built in to traditional “Sat-rack” style cases.This system can operate in either MENOS or “Open-DSNG” (non-MENOS) modes and a variety of different 19” rack mount baseband equipment can be specified. The antenna is full auto-pointing and the system packs up in to flight cases under 23Kg so it can be transported on a commercial aircraft for fast news gathering operations.

VP-120A-Lite Terminal
The VP-120A-Lite system is a very cost effective 1.2m Ku-Band antenna designed specifically for MENOS use (up to 20W). The system includes a full Newtec MENOS IP Satellite Interactive Terminal (IP-SIT) built in to a small portable terminal.This antenna is a full auto-pointing system with the BADR4 (MENOS) satellite pre-programmed and can be easily assembled in less than 5 minutes with no tools required. Live streaming and “store-and-forward” options are available with this terminal.

CF-100A-Lite Terminal
The CF-100A-Lite system is a 1m Ku-Band six piece carbon antenna with a RF chain that will support up to 140W TWT amplifier and a full Newtec MENOS IP Satellite Interactive Terminal (IP-SIT) built in to a small portable terminal.This system is designed for very rapid DSNG deployments as it comes in three soft bags all under 23Kg. It can be built and up-linking in under 5 minutes thanks to its very accurate auto-deploy system and its “no tools” design.
This system can work in MENOS and in Open-DSNG (non-MENOS) modes.

Production Pack
This package allows the operator to extend his capabilities when performing a MENOS uplink. It includes a DVCam based camcorder with all the accessories, a DVCam portable VTR, a production switcher allowing up to six sources to be mixed and a non-linear editing system for pre-packaging your content.Each item has been selected for its seamless integration via the “i-link” control protocol. If a slightly different model of camera, VTR or editing package is required then we would be happy to accommodate this.

DSNG Vehicles
Sematron have supplied a range of specialist outside broadcast vehicles for a variety of applications.
They range from multi-camera DSNG vans to compact satellite news-gathering trucks, 4 wheel drive uplink vehicles, and radio vans. Our vehicles are at work throughout the world.

MENOS-EZSNG. DSNG Uplink System
The EZ-SNG system allows a very quick and cost effective way of building a DSNG vehicle. Utilising a modular design it allows a rack of pre-wired and pre-tested equipment to be shipped in to country ready for the simple installation in to a new or existing vehicle.
By removing the coach building element, both the lead time and cost of deployment are reduced . In difficult terrain where maintaining the condition of the vehicle is an issue, this modular rack can be removed from one van and re-installed in another within 48 hours -minimum “down-time” is a key factor in the News Gathering business.
